If there’s a newborn in your life right now who seems to be changing before your very eyes, Prescott’s family photographer, Aris Affairs Photography, suggests these ideas for perfectly capturing your baby’s precious first weeks.
Studio vs Home
Studio sessions are usually done when your baby is only a few weeks old and is very sleepy and very ‘mold-able’. Studio sessions focus on shots of your baby looking perfect and beautifully posed in wraps, blankets, headbands and hats.
Sessions that take place at home take a little more casual approach to your infant’s photography. While some posing takes place, the greater focus is on capturing more natural shots of your baby and the home.
Shoot in the moment
Capturing your baby’s moves, stretches and yawns can be some of the sweetest moments to treasure. Regardless of where the sessions takes place, don’t worry about getting endless perfect poses. If you’re posing your baby, one thing to keep in mind is to notice their hands. If they’re making little fists try to open up their fingers. Sometimes it’s a bit of an effort but you’ll achieve a more peaceful look with relaxed hands.
Don’t forget mom
Moms love their newborn so much that there will be countless photos of the baby sleeping, waking, bathing, snuggling and so on. With cell phones there are sure to be thousands, literally, of photos by the time of baby’s first birthday. But, sadly, so few with mommy in them. While cell photos are great there is absolutely no comparison to professional photos. Moms, please make sure you are in some of the pictures. You will treasure these photos forever.
Your baby is the boss regardless of where or when the session takes place. If your baby isn’t going to fall asleep or stay in one position just keep shooting. Things don’t always go as planned but sometimes the very best photos come from those unpredictable, unplanned moments.
There’s no time like the present to capture your newborn’s earliest moments. Don’t take the chance on capturing this special time that only happens once. Call Aris Affairs Photography today at 928-642-4049 to schedule your session or for more information.
